Location
Lusa Bothy
The ideal spot
Lusa Bothy is set in a rare gem of a location and has never been introduced to visitors before, that’s why it is so unspoilt.
Situated in its own sheltered sea bay with miles of uninterrupted views along the coast of Skye and across to the Scottish mainland, it is a magical, secluded spot on the Lusa Estate, where vast amounts of wildlife and birds can be spotted daily bringing the guest back to nature.
Lusa Bothy’s special direct beachside location, gives you the feeling that you’re on your very own estate. The views from the picture windows reaching far across the sea to the mainland and beyond, through the mountains, is differently spectacular everyday, no matter what the weather and are some of the best views on the island.
You can kayak from the bay or walk for miles along the coastline getting your fill of the stunning landscape and views.
Geographically…
This small, private estate is in a great location and only a short drive to lots of other highly regarded beauty spots. Even when the drives are longer, say up north to The Old Man of Storr or Neist Lighthouse, the scenery on the drive makes it worth the journey.
Also up north, about 40 minutes drive through some great mountain passes and you will reach Portree, Skye capital, a very pretty village with the famous coloured cottages down by the harbour.
An easy and spectacular little drive down to the Kylerhea to Glenelg ferry will take you about 20 minutes from the Bothy and the same sort of distance to the Armadale to Mallaig ferry.
On the way there you could stop in for a really good coffee and maybe a wee cake at An Crùbh, the new hub in the heart of the Sleat Peninsula. Great views of course and friendly staff. And you can buy excellent local ingredients at the shop there and also get your postcards sent off at the post office. Definitely worth a visit!
That’s just a couple of ideas but really Skye is your oyster, there is so much to see and do and really forward thinking places to eat. Just ask us when you get here and we will give you more ideas…
Remote yet accessible
Lusa Bothy is only a 5 minute drive on the A87 from the iconic Skye Bridge which links Skye to the Scottish mainland. It is also midway between two of the larger villages – Kyle of Lochalsh, on the mainland and Broadford, on Skye itself. Both towns have supermarkets, petrol stations, medical centres and plenty of little shops to satisfy all your needs whilst on holiday.
